TAICEP (The Association for International Credential Evaluation Professionals) held its fourth annual conference in the City of Brotherly Love – Philadelphia, PA. The 2018 meeting was TAICEP’s largest one yet, with international credential evaluators from around the world.
This year’s conference theme, Working Together to Ensure Integrity in International Credential Evaluation, was exemplified in the selection of session topics presented by member and non-member experts in the field of international credential evaluation. Attendees had the enviable task of choosing among 40 sessions (see the brochure below for a list of the offerings).
As far as the overall conference experience, it is attendees who sum it up best. Here are some of the comments from colleagues, in response to the question:
What did you like most about the conference?
- The fact that all the sessions were relevant and I didn’t have to struggle to glean information from unrelated or partially related sessions, which is what I had to do at the last two [conferences]that I attended. I also enjoyed reconnecting with long-time colleagues and meeting new ones.
- I get to see how other universities are dealing with international students. I get to meet people from all over the world. I get to ask questions to professionals in the field.
- The conference is all about what we do on a daily basis.
- The sessions. What a great chance to learn from one another and to discuss small but important issues.
- The high level of sessions presented while also meeting the needs of newcomers to the field.
- I enjoyed that everyone was very friendly and that sessions about working remotely and upward mobility were included.
- The diversity of people and perspectives.
