Dear Colleagues and Friends,
We’re looking forward to seeing you in Rome. The Conference Planning Committee and others are working hard to improve on efforts from last year in Chicago to make our 2017 conference in Rome one of the best to-date.
If you haven’t registered for the conference, please know that our early registration deadline has been extended until June 15th. Registering early provides you with a discount, and gives our team a chance to better plan ahead for the needs of all of our conference participants. Please note that our half-day pre-conference workshop “Beyond the Basics” has already sold out, so do not delay – register for the “Evaluating Refugee Qualifications” workshop today!
If you were waiting to register until we published the list of session proposals selected for 2017 – wait no further – we’ve published the current list of sessions to our website. As always, the Professional Development Committee has selected a range of sessions tailed toward the unique needs and goals of the profession of international credential evaluation. We’re confident you’ll learn something new, network and learn along side your fellow international credential evaluators, and hopefully be wowed by our conference location in Rome at LUISS University.
LUISS – Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli – is an independent University accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education and affiliated with CONFINDUSTRIA, the Association of Italian Industries. LUISS University, home to our 2017 conference, is located in the heart of Rome, the “cultural melting pot”, the capital of the Country, and seat of the Government.
Before you travel, please click here for the link to the official tourism office in Rome. The site has a wealth of information regarding local must-see sites, has a calendar of current events, and also has pre-planned travel itineraries available should you be traveling early to Rome or staying after the conference. You’ll also find information regarding transportation in and around the city, so check it out.
- If you’ll be in Rome on September 3rd, take advantage of free admission to all state-owned heritage sites such as museums, galleries, archaeological sites, monuments, parks and gardens. You can find the list of museums with free entry on the 3rd by clicking here. It’s recommended to call the museum ahead of time to confirm opening times and to reserve the ticket when possible to avoid lines.
While at the conference, there are variety things to see and do within a short walking distance from LUISS University including the Auditorium designed by Renzo Piano and the MAXXI Art Gallery designed by architect Zaha Hadid.
The real jewel in this part of Rome is without a doubt Villa Borghese, a public park that offers something for everyone – and it’s just a 20-minute walk from campus!
Also located within a 20 minute walking distance from the conference is Villa Ada. Located in the northeastern part of the city, this park is the second largest in the city after Villa Doria Pamphili, and offers the perfect place for a relaxing stroll in it’s expansive 450 acres.
Nearby, the Flaminio district is also a favorite among sports enthusiasts given the Flamino stadium and the Foro Italico sports complex are located here.
Romance is on the other hand in the air in Ponte Milvio, whose lamp posts are covered with locks that have been left by couples as tokens of everlasting love.
Just a stones throw away is the Parioli district where business and residential buildings flourish with lots of fashionable bars and restaurants.
